Bobbi Brown's Neons & Nudes Collection

Is your make-up bag in a need of a spring revamp? Then the Bobbi Brown beauty counter is the place to go. I'm totally in love with the new Neons & Nudes collection – it’s perfect for those who never really experiment with colour but want to! I recommend you team the super-shiny neon lipglosses (perfect for rocking the neon beauty trend in a subtle way) with the soft eye colours from the wearable nude eye palette. Then finish off your neon and nude look with a flick of the amazing liquid eyeliner – trust me, it lasts for hours!

Let's Talk...

My obsession with blazers is growing and growing everyday. I practically wear them all the time, they go with pretty much everything from dresses  to just a nice top and jeans! But the problem that I always face is how to style my hair when wearing them. But with The Beauty Department's tips I never will never go wrong again! Here they are:

  • Hair down- If you’re headed into a meeting, to the office or off to school, you can never go wrong with wearing your hair down. Loose waves or pin straight, down is a safe bet.
  • Loose, low bun or pony- so simple and fast! Just throw your “slept on texture” into a low bun or loose pony. Take the hairs that fall out around your face and give them a little help with a large curling iron. Maybe even make a tiny braid with one piece and bobby pin it back into the bun or pony. It makes it look like you tried when really it took under 5 minutes. Such a cute casual collegiate vibe!
  • Top knot- If you’re wearing a statement blazer (with shoulder pads, sequined, or heavy embellishments) let it do all the work! Pull your hair up, up, up. Try a top knot. Smooth or messy. Either way, that puts the focus on the blazer!
  • Sleek + chic- This can be a very powerful look. It just looks like this girl has got it together! We would wear this hair with a blazer if we were doing a presentation, going for an interview, or heading to a very stylish party.

Darling Dynamite...

I don’t know about you, but when it comes to Valentine’s Day, chocolate is one of the only things on my mind. So if you’ve got a knack for crafts and a craving for chocolate, this is the Valentine’s DIY for you. Behold: Darling Dynamite! It’s simple, sweet and oh-so-clever. Roll a few up for friends or give one to your special someone with a cute card. No matter what, it’s a sweet way to say, “You’re the bomb!”

Makes 1 Darling Dynamite

What you will need…
  • 3 packs of Rolos
  • 1 sheet of red construction paper
  • 2 black pipe cleaners
  • scotch tape
Instructions
  1. Trim the construction paper into three pieces and wrap each piece around a pack of Rolos and secure with tape. Hold onto the excess construction paper for now.
  2. Wrap the pieces of construction paper around each pack of Rolos and secure with a bit of tape.
  3. Gather the three packs of wrapped Rolos into a bunch and secure with a pipe cleaner.
  4. Using the excess construction paper from Step #1, make a tag with the message “Darling, you’re dynamite!” (Other message suggestions: “You’re a blast!” or “You’re the bomb!”) String the tag onto the pipe cleaner.
  5. Lastly, the second pipe cleaner in the middle of the three packs of Rolos, trimming off the end so that your “fuse” is an inch or two long.
Isn’t this an adorable idea?

Headbands...

Headbands were one of the most fashionable accessories worn in 2010. They're a great way to add abit of chick to your style, whether it's coloured, has patterns or just plain it works with pretty much anything. Allot of celebrities were supporting a bow style on their headbands like Lauren Conrad and Rihanna. I picked up This headband from H&M for only £2.99 and now I wear it all the time from party's to just days off. There are so many to choose from this cheap and fun look will never get old.

Jenner Making Headlines

She's 16 and is perfect for the cover of this magazine. Yes, Kendall Jenner was on the cover of Teen Prom and was looking fabulous in a sequined, frothy, blue dress. The E! reality star chatted with the magazine about her style, saying that her three older sisters [Kourtney,Kim and Khloé] inspire her the most. She carry's on by saying that she pulls her style from each of them and that they tell her and her younger sister,Kylie,  not to listen to whatever people might say. Some great advice i'm sure Kendall and Kylie will be Hollywood's new 'it' girls. Watch out!

Oily Skin ?

People think that the best way to prevent having oily skin is by washing the face several times a day. However, this is not true. Cleaning your face too often can make the glands produce more sebum. It is advisable to wash your face twice a day and not more than that. You should use a gel facial cleanser rather than cream or bar soap as these will make your skin appear oilier and flaky. You may want to look for facial cleansers that are specifically made for oily skin.

You should also include using a toner in your skin regimen. It will help control the oil your skin produces without making your skin dry. You can try using clay masks at least twice a month to help unclog your pores and remove dirt and other impurities. Many women think because they have oily skin they do not have to moisturise, no matter what the skin type you should always moisturise.

When choosing your makeup, you should get products that are oil free and water based. There are cosmetics that can clog the pores and might be the cause for having oily skin and acne breakouts. You should also try makeup products that contain acne medication. It will also be helpful to invest in and always bring with you oil blotters. This will keep the shine at bay throughout the day.

Did you know that stress can be a factor in having oily skin and breakouts? It is then important to relax and unwind. You may also want to exercise regularly as this refreshes the skin. You should also keep your diet healthy. Reduce your intake of deep fried food and sweets. Instead, increase your intake of fresh fruits and vegetables.

I hope this helps.

Summer Looks...

Paper Crown
New Look

Even though it's not summer now, it's always nice to pick out some outfits that you look forward to wearing. I was recently looking through Paper Crown Look Book and I fell in love with an outfit. I browsed around the high street stores and found a similar design and I had to get it. I bought the skirt from New Look for £24.99 and paired it with a top and a small blazer, and 'voila' I had created the look I wanted.

New Year, New Hairstyle

Selena Gomez is always changing up her hairstyle from long to short, bangs to a side fringe. Whatever the style I am always loving it. A couple of weeks ago Selena took to twitter to ask her fans on their opinion on her new hair. Yes, change is good, but this wise girl told her fans that they were just extensions and it's nice to have fun with your locks. Well I certainly like them, do you?
